Hellboy II: The Golden Army [Blu-ray]

I will have to say I really enjoyed Hellboy 2 even though I were not the biggest fan of the first. I don't know anything about the comic book but as far as I was concerned it really didn't matter for me. I found it to be really enjoyable with the incorporation of certain comedy moments. Even though I didn't laugh at certain parts of supposed humor they still made it a pretty good effort. I know they tried to make a scene of him being drunk funny but it just was I guess the cliche of how a drunk person would act and not so much how an individual would. I am glad I watched Hellboy though its not my favorite superhero movie its not the worst. Even though I would of liked more story then action I still enjoyed the action sequences and it was never overwhelmed with all action. Through the whole movie I never thought to myself this movie is so bad I cant bear it anymore but neither did I go out and buy it. Though I enjoyed it I wanted to love it but I couldn't bring myself to it and go out and buy it. That is what I do with movies I love I rent first than I buy unless I know its gonna be loved.

When I watch a blu ray I always think to myself "does it look good enough to show off what blu ray is capable of". Some movies are just horrible and should not of been transferred until someone knew what they were doing but this movie surpassed my expectations. The blu ray version of this movie is awesome and the detail in certain scenes are fantastic. The audio is top notch as well with everything sounding very dynamic and just overall it was great to crank up the surround sound. When everything comes together in action sequences I appreciated the movie all the better. Though like my title the blu ray is worth a see and there is also a movie on the blu ray that is also worth it.

If you liked the first one you will difinately want to see the 2nd one.
If you didnt see the first one you should difinately watch them both. I love sci-fi movies. Movies that take you out of everyday and into a dimension of the unknown. It was captivating and exciting. I love to purchase the DVD's to watch at home so I can pause when I want or rewind if i didnt catch something. Having all the same characters return for the 2nd Hellboy is also a plus. I highly recommend.

Sequels are iffy; sometimes good, mostly disappointing. Frankly, this didn't disappoint.

It won't enrich your life, or enlighten you, or lead you to a vision of heaven.

On the other hand, it's a perfectly good story, and the special effects give it a nice texture; it's a popcorn-worthy adventure movie.

The plot is simple, with one subplot; a bad fairy (who looks like a vampire) wants control of an army of unstoppable robot-thingies. He kills his father to get control of that army, but then has to find the map to the army, and the missing pieces of the control device (a crown) to further his dark ambitions. Oh, yeah; his twin sister is the love interest for the fish-guy in the movie who is Hellboy's sidekick.

There are a lot of fights, monsters, including cute tiny monsters like the tooth fairies, all leading up to the big finale fight where Hellboy fights bad fairy guy.

There's an emotionally satisfying end for the movie when bad guy's sister finishes him off at the ultimate cost to herself. Fish guy morns, and we get a mostly happy ending.

I bought this movie for Del Toro's sumptuous imagery and imagination. I was not disappointed. It is certainly a feast, and deserving of great acclaim. The story, however, is uneven at times and could benefit from a tighter, clearer vision similar to, for instance, Pan's Labyrinth.

True to the story so far. My family and I really enjoyed this film. We all agreed that it was good to see that it had been carried on from the last one, which made the story line easy to follow, (even though it is not one of those films that is that hard to follow). The action was good for this type of film and it kept you entertained for the duration.
