A Cut Above Apatow's Other Offerings
Forgetting Sarah Marshall has just as many raunchy, goofy, slapstick moments as other Apatow offerings like The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Superbad, but this film has much more depth, believe it or not. The story, as the title suggests, is about a man trying to forget Sarah Marshall, the actress and ex-girlfriend who broke his heart.
He picks up the pieces of his broken heart twhile vacationing in Hawaii, thanks to Rachel Jansen, portrayed by actress Mila Kunis in a very adult role that contrasts the role she played so well on That 70's Show.
Kristin Bell is both likeable and laughable as Sarah Marshall, and her English singer boyfriend's rendition of Inside You will leave you choking with laughter.
I wasn't expecting actor Jason Segel's full frontal at the end of the movie, but it provided a tender laugh and a poignant end to the film. Be sure to watch the film through the credits for an additional laugh featuring Sarah.

Forgetting the humor
When I saw this movie I really wanted to like it. I loved most of these actors and I felt that the situation would have the recipe for a fantastic comedy. A guy who can't over his ex and goes on vacation only to be faced with quirky and weird situations that should lead into corny but awesome hilarity.
Unfortunately it just falls really flat. I found the acting to be inexcusably poor and the humorous lines were more disturbing and weird than laugh out loud funny. The side characters such as the married couple who doesn't enjoy having sex don't fit in with the plot well and tended to annoy me more than entertain.
I loved movies liked Knocked Up and Superbad and was lead to believe that this was on par with that type of comedy and it doesn't even begin to compare.

Heart-warming, and Yet Still Hilarious!
I saw this movie in the theaters and absolutely loved it. When it came out on DVD, I had to get it and decided to purchase this 3 disc special edition. It comes with the extended version of the film, tons of extras (including hilarious bloopers and deleted scenes), and a digital copy of the movie on a separate disc with a code to load it onto your computer or MP3/video player. I sat and watched the entirety of the bonus features, and while a few are really not so good, the majority are worth a watch.
For those of you who don't know the movie, the main character (a musician played by Jason Segal) gets dumped by his TV star girlfriend (Kristen Bell) in a very uncomfortable situation (especially for some in the audience). After being down in the dumps for a while, he decides to go to Hawaii on a whim and when he gets there, lo and behold who is there but his recent ex. Hilarity ensues especially when her new rocker-type British boyfriend is there (played by Russell Brand).
This movie is definitely a comedy, but it is full of heart. I adore Jason Segal, who stars in and wrote the movie and songs in it. I can't wait for him to do another film!

Tasteless
Another crude movie comes out of Hollywood. Not only was it completely tasteless, but the story was poorly written and the film was poorly executed along with terrible acting and even worse sound/music quality. Why are we allowing our brains to be fed this diet of junk? Maybe if we all stop watching such crass movies, the writers will be forced to come up with something wholesome and meaningful as well as entertaining. Is that too much to ask? 2008-12-02

Hilarious Movie!!!
Though parts of it are a little raunchy and over the top, this is a hilarious movie and a must-have for any comedy collection! 2008-12-01
