The Final Countdown [Blu-ray]

One of my top 10 movies for pure entertainment. It's a must see!! Very well acted for this type of movie, and big box-office stars.

This is one of those movies I'm a little ashamed to admit I enjoyed -- because it's really pretty silly. Even if you suspend disbelief and accept the premise, the story is still unrealistic. Kirk Douglas' character goes way, way out on a limb with his theory that "we're a United States warship and the United States is at war, so I'm gonna launch my fighters and destroy the Japanese carrier fleet -- effects on future history be damned."
The only really memorable scene is the one where the F-14s go head-to-head with the Zeros. What would happen in such a "what-if" scenario? About the same thing that would happen if an M16-toting modern soldier went up against a musket-carrying Revolutionary war soldier, I guess.

i cannot express enough how good this film truly is. it will blow you away whether you're a war film fan, sci-fi fan, action film lover. kirk douglas totally sells me on his role as captain and martin sheen is excellent as the civillian observer. the entire modern day aircraft carrier going back to 1941 is an truly and amazing idea. the movies music score really is well done and helps to sell the film and pumps up the audience where it should. i don't want to ruin this for anyone but this film is in my top ten and i'd reccomend it to everyone.

If you haven't ever seen this movie, you must! It's about a modern warship travels back to 1941 and Pearl Harbor.

We ordered this DVD in English but it came in another language. When I e-mailed them they said if we had opened it we couldn't return it. Luckily we hadn't. We just weren't happy with their service.
