Bleach Season 2
I was pretty happy about this box set. Compared to other anime box sets this actually comes with some special features that are pretty watchable. It's also great having 20 episodes in one boxed set, and the translations are actually pretty good compared to the Naruto boxed sets. So if you are a fan of this series it is a must buy. Can't wait till the third season comes out! 2008-09-12

Review on translation and DVD set itself
While there are several other reviews regarding the show itself, I'm going to focus primarily on the technical aspects of the box set. After all, I figure if you're looking for season 2, you already know what the show is about.
The box set itself is sharp looking and made the same as the first season. It's made in 'book' format, which, in my opinion, is a lot more easy to handle than the usual fold-out box sets. While the first season had a poster of Ichigo with character reference sketches on the back of it, this Ichigo poster is blank on the back. There is no inclusion of a paper with the episode titles, which I wish they did. While all you see on the screen are episode numbers, each one does, indeed, have an official title that would make locating favorite episodes much easier.
The special on this set focuses on four voice actors: Michelle Ruff (Rukia), Wally Wingert (Renji), Spike Spencer (Hanataro), and Dan Woren (Byakuya). They discuss their opinions on their characters, as well as voice acting itself. I'm not sure how long it was, but it was long enough to enjoy.
If you are looking for good subtitles, these are mediocre. They pretty much keep to the dubbing 'rules'. For example, they don't keep character names as the Japanese VA says them, but always their first name. Chad is always put as 'Chad', even if Ichigo is not the one speaking. They also leave off any honorifics (-kun, -san, -chan, etc) in the subs. If you're picky about that (as I am), it can be pretty irritating. Viz releases always seem to be this way, however.
They sub the opening and ending themes as well.
While they claim the episodes are uncut, and the main body of the episodes are indeed whole, they do not include the Shinigami Golden shorts. I'm not sure if the Japanese DVD releases have them, but I know that they've started by now, even if all these particular episodes only are character introductory ones. I only hope that when they actually are little side stories, Viz includes them on the DVDs. This complaint is particularly confusing as they even dubbed Kon's announcement that they would start soon in one of the episode previews.
All that aside, $40 (as of today) is a fantastic price for an entire season of a great anime.

Jumpin head first into the Soul Society
After completing their training and leaving the real world. Yoruichi leads Ichigo, Chad, Orihime, Uryu into the world of the Soul Society. Their goal is to rescue Rukia before she's executed.
Comedy, action, old faces, new faces, are just some of the things that you will see in this second season. I will admit this much, almost the entire first half lost me. Not at all due to the complexity because Bleach isn't complex at all. I just feel certain events dragged on too long and this includes the comedy in particular. Also, several characters were far too long winded and they over stayed their short welcomes quickly. There was also a filler episode that grated on my nerves the entire time.
This season does shine for me in certain areas, one is definitly with the introduction of elite Soul Reapers. They truly are intimidating and their powers match their bravado. Plus the series isn't all just mindless sword play. There are other things taking place to add to the suspense of the story. No matter what, Bleach knows how to keep viewers glued to the seat wondering whats going to happen next.
The action is uncut and you will see all the blood plus hear all the foul language. The soundtrack got a little better with the addition of a new opening theme called "D-technoLife" performed by UVERworld. It's a pretty good song but I still prefer "Asterisk" peformed by Orange Range.
In any case, if you saw the first season and became a fan. There is alot going on here to keep your interest high and force you to continue further. Overall I did like it but I'm still not sure if I'm going to follow this really long series. Only time will tell. This season contains episodes 21- 41, plus there's an Ichigo poster added.

The Rescue Of Rukia Is On The Way
This season set reminded me a little of the Naruto storyline saga of when Naruto and his friends go to retrieve Sasuke before he defects to the Sound Village. But for me the Bleach characters who are trying to save Rukia from death are saving a more nobler and loyal friend than Sasuke was. This set has Ichigo and company trying to find and save Rukia who for unknown reasons has been sentenced to death for some ridiculous crime. Along the way Ichigo and friends will end up finding both new friends and allies as well as new enemies. What is also great about this set is that unlike the episodes on cartoon networks ADULT SWIM these episodes are not censored meaning that any bloody fight scene or language is not cut out or dubbed a different way. The picture quality and animation are great sharp and clear and the audio is also very clean no undue or weird sounds that are not part of the show. The English and Japanese Voice actors were superb with this season set as they were with the first. So for the cool price this set is going for I say start your Bleach collection today...

BLEACH IS THE BEST ANIME!!!!
im 13 and i have been watching this series sence the day it came to America, this is the best anime in the world. Bleach is funny but when Rukia`s life is in danger, the anime becomes serious and is a battle to life and death of Ichigo, Orihime, Uryu and Chad, putting thier life on the line for Rukias. As Ichigo and freinds try to defeat the captain and squad members of the soul society, Rukia is also waiting for her Execution.
I would recommend seeing the first season because ALOT of usefull information is given. Although these episodes may not be the "laugh out loud" the first season is verry funny. any anime fan should watch this and make Bleach your new favorite. this DOES contain sword fighting so things do tend to get "violent" but its worth watching, and is definently worth every single penny to buy!!
