Great stuff!
Though I could've done without the stunt casting of Britney, How I Met Your Mother Season 3 didn't disappoint! (Plus, since it came back post-strike there are more episodes than a lot of series, so more bang for your buck!) This series continues to be one of my favorites that I can watch over & over whenever I need a little pick me up! Highly recommend it!! 2008-11-25

In honor of Slapsgiving...
...it seems right to post this review at this time. Being a latecomer to HIMYM fandom, the coming of Season 3 on DVD was very exciting for me; I'd been finished with the first 2 seasons for months by the time it arrived! I think the show holds up well, overall, with the aforementioned "Slapsgiving" episode providing more laugh-out-loud moments for my husband and I than anything else in recent memory. The reappearance of Robin Sparkles, the follow-up/lingering question mark of the Ted's-30th-birthday-goat-in-the-bathroom story, and of course the oft-lauded 2-minute date sequence are season highlights. My only great disappointment was not feeling like we, the audience, got to know Stella enough to fall in love with her the way Ted did. 2008-11-25

How I Met Your Mother: Season 3
I thought that this dvd of season 3 was very well done, and I will be purchasing season 4 once it comes out! 2008-11-24

Best set of the show yet.
Season 3 is probably the best season of the show. Although the show is essentially about Ted, we really get to focus more on the other characters this season which has been a great plus for me - I especially like seeing where Marshall is headed.
When I first bought season 1 (while season 2 was almost finished airing) I was hooked on the show, although something was lacking. Maybe it was a little too gimmicky, or maybe it was just that I was so unused to this kind of show. The "finding true love" aspect isn't exactly new; I mean that the style of humor - the "bro" humor, if you will - that I never really paid attention to. Fortunately, HIMYM was making me laugh, quite possibly more than any other show that I've followed.
I then waited for season 2 to come out (then to go on sale), which is when I was really blown away. Some definite highlights are Robin Sparkles, slap bet, and learning more about Barney's past. More laughs, more fun.
Now, pertaining to this season, the characters have matured, the writing has really tightened up, and by this point the actors have really sunk into their roles - especially (in my heavily biased opinion) Jason Segal. He's one of the best comedic actors on television, precisely because he isn't afraid to do some truly wild things.
The guest stars this season are great too, notably: Sarah Chalke, John Cho, Heidi Klum, Mandy Moore, Britney Spears (eh), and especially James Van Der Beek.
As a capstone on the great episodes, this box set has the best special features of all 3 seasons. There is a hilarious uncensored (ACTUALLY uncensored!!) gag reel which is extremely fun to watch. It's one of the best gag reels I've seen on any DVD, and it's fairly long too, clocking in at roughly 8 minutes. Besides that, there's about 10 minutes or so of Marshall and Lily's honeymoon video, a making of an episode feature, many, many commentaries, and a couple music videos (Robin Sparkles, and Marshall's slapsgiving song).

AWESOMEEEE
Season 3 was/is hilarious. You have Mandy Moore and Britney Spears both making an appearance at some point, you have a reference to Doogie Howser, and you have Robins Sparkles. Awesome.
Obviously, I had already seen season 3 so I knew I was buying something I wanted. MOST DEF recommend it to ALL HIMYM fans or fans of any of the actors in it. Or, if you are interested in buying a great comedy, go right ahead! You will love it!
true story.
