Same Three Guys, Same Three Chords.
What else can you say about three guys that have been making music together for almost 40 years. I purchased this DVD after seeing the live show in Johnson City, TN. The two were very similar. These guys still rock as hard as ever, and it's amazing how much stage presence they have. If you've never had the chance to see That Lil' Ol' Band From Texas live, this is the next best thing. 2008-08-05

ZZ TOP:LIVE FROM TEXAS [BLU-RAY]
I'ts hard to believe this is the first recorded live concert of ZZ TOP.How can three guys put out so much sound! They are so tight and so together, a real classic to have. The picture and sound quality are fantastic, partly due to the Blu-Ray disc. This is a must have for any HD music collection. 2008-08-04

Finally, that Lil' Ol' Band from Texas on DVD
Why it took ZZ Top so long to put out a DVD, I don't know, but this was probably worth waiting for. It is loaded with their 70's classic blues rock numbers. It also has some from the Eliminator time period, which I'm not so fond of, but hey, that's when they sold the most records. This concert takes place naturally in Texas and they amongst family. Billy Gibbons still has great chops and the band fits together like a glove. One of the best parts is a bonus track of a poker game Billy, Dusty, and Frank are having and talking about different things that happened during their career. It is a bit staged but comes off as being fairly honest. By the end, I was still begging for more of those early 70's numbers that I grew up listening to. 2008-08-01

Decent cinema, horrible sound.
I first saw this band in 1973 as a college freshman. They warmed up for Aerosmith. I have been a fan of both bands ever since, and I was exceptionally glad that ZZ Top finally released a video document of their work. They prove to be a very competent trio, firing nearly flawlessly on all 3 cylinders. The camera work is good, but not great. It could have been better if it weren't just a sequential parade of 3 characters, each for a few seconds at a time, all receiving equal time and attention - equal to a fault. Yes, there are group shots as well, but the constantly recurring shots of Dusty, Billy, and Frank were annoying. Then there was the sound quality. I sent mine back because the sound was so poor. All the previous reviewers raved about the sound quality. My DVD's sound was like a spastic fader, with the volume varying wildly and randomly inappropriately. At first I thought there was a problem with my DVD drive, but I tried the disc on 3 different machines after my own and the results were the same. I put the soundtrack in a program where I could visually inspect the waveforms, and the soundtrack was indeed almost a sine wave of inappropriate volume swells and dwells. It was as if there was an out-of-phase type competitive interference. The result was an annoying DVD package in whole. I gave it two stars because it is the only visual record of ZZ Top commercially available, and that counts for something. 2008-07-31

Forget AC/DC ZZ Top is the greatest rock band ever and they prove it once again on this awesome DVD! 2008-07-31
