Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek Theatre [Blu-ray]

I first saw this on the local PBS station. When I got the DVD at home and popped it in the player, I couldn't just sit down and watch it. I moved the coffee table out of the way and danced while watching the entire 2 discs! Yeah it's that good! This is easily an exercise dance-along video! The sound is exhilaratingly crisp and tight (especially on surround sound) and just so much fun to watch and sing along to as well. Both bands sound better than ever and together are just magical and mesmerizing. If you are feeling low and depressed, watch this DVD. It will instantly uplift you and change your energy. That's what it does for me!!

Both of these bands were among my favorite all-time groups.

Saw this same concert live in Pittsburgh. Much the same then as on the DVD. EWF was fabulous - band and vocals were tight and Verdine was amazing for a guy that was a member of the original group.

Chicago was very sloppy with the vocals and way over the top. Played their best tunes but didn't know how to match up with EWF either visually or musically. Couple of the older guys just looked tired and ridiculous. The sound guys for EWF were on top of their game. Didn't sound like Chicago was even in the same venue. Too bad. Guitarists in both bands were awesome and so was the drumming.

DVD is definitely worth the money for the EWF portions though. Now when is BS&T and Tower of Power going to go on the road together? ;-)

I got lucky when I found this last piece of dvd on the shelf of a store, already on sale. I played it on my regular dvd, and WOW! It's right on the money and all my jazz fan viewers agreed! Last weekend, I had to connect an HDTV and surround sound for an instant 3-hour party, we can't get enough of Earth, Wind & Fire, so we played part 1 again 'till midnight ... as expected, everybody went out looking for this dvd. I am now endorsing amazon.com to them to simplify their hunt.
Warning: After getting this rare collection, it is hard to find another music dvd that will satisfy your expectations. I'm still looking for an equally great release...

The music is awesome on this, but I wish the video quality was better. It's a bit grainy...

Otherwise, fantastic concert.

Great sound, especially the Chicago horn section. One thing, this is one the first HD DVDs out I guess and the menu doesn't work while playing like other newer discs. So you can't be playing one song, go into the menu for playlist and jump to another song.
