John Adams (HBO Miniseries)

I am a very fussy and ardent fan of early U.S. history and am blown away by this production. Acting is phenomenal, art direction, makeup, sets, etc., all far beyond the ordinary. In short, I'm very glad I bought it.

I already did this review but since you're asking again.... This 'item' gets an excellent rating. The condition of the DVD was fine. But I was very disappointed in the time it took for delivery. Because it was a birthday gift I used the more expensive shipping & handling but it took longer to get it than when I use the standard. It was received several days after the special day had gone by. Guess I'll continue to use the standard S&H.

Im not an expert on this stuff but I found this series to be one of the most well made, intelligent and emotionally engaging and engrossing story Ive ever seen. The acting is superb and the dialogue- pure heaven. I simply loved it I recommend it to everyone and anyone (including children).

I was mesmerized by what i know was a factual account of the founding of this country with John Adams as a main instrument in forming the birth and growth of this country,although he and all the founding fathers have turned in their grave many times as this country is not being run nor has it in many years as John Adams and the other founding fathers intended it to be run...They founded this country by the people,for the people and with the people's welfare first not they're own agenda as many Presidents since have....This program was educational as it was interesting and i could not wait until the next part was shown....This rates 5 stars twice over....

Almost all of my Amazon reviews are book reviews (including McCullough's "John Adams"), but I was so moved by this HBO miniseries that I had to recommend it. The acting is superb, the score is wonderful and the story is moving. While the book certainly stands on its own as a monumental work of research and writing, this miniseries beautifully highlights the ups and downs of John Adams's life and the birth of our nation. John Adams is a true American hero and this series captures that so well.
