Temptations Get Ready: Definitive Performances
This is a great DVD for all Temptations fans. It starts with the original Temptations, including David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams, and it progresses through all of the members of the Temptations with Otis Williams providing the history of each song. It's a wonderful DVD. I have bought 4 copies as gifts. 2007-08-08

I Fell In Love All Over Again
I grew up in the sixties when the Tempts were at the top of their game. They had such an impact on my life and seeing this dvd was like having them back again. With their rich, gospel-tinged harmonies, precision choreopgraphy and impeccable style of dress, the Tempts were the ones that women wanted to be with and men wanted to be. They were the epitome of cool. There was Melvin's booming bass, Eddie's soaring tenor and boyish good looks, Paul's wonderful dance moves, David, with his super cool bad boy persona, and Otis, the glue that held it all together. No group before or since has captured the magic of this five. Dennis Edwards had some very big shoes to fill when he took over for David Ruffin. He was good, but it was never the same after David left. I enjoyed watching the way the group evolved from "The Way You Do the Things You Do" to "I Wish It Would Rain". On "The Way You Do the Things You Do" they are so full of manic energy and appeared to be so happy to finally have a hit on the charts. It's fun watching them enjoy themselves so. David is fun to watch with his pompadour and sunglasses. Toward the end of the song he starts to mug it up and Paul pulls him back from the mike. It's very funny. On "I Wish It Would Rain" they are at their peak. The lead and the background vocals and the dance steps still blow me away after all these years. These guys invented "smooth". The dvd also features a rare lead performance by Paul singing "Don't Look Back". Equally enjoyable is the interview with Otis. I enjoyed the anecdotes, especially the one about the making of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg". The dvd ends with an a capella version of "You're My Everything" and some beautiful still photos over the closing credits. I highly recommend this dvd. If you are a child of the sixties like myself you'll love being transported back in time. If you are child of the eighties and have only seen the movie, this is your chance to see the real thing and see what made this group so great. 2007-07-16

Temptin' Temptations forever!!
For any Motown, or music fan or historian, these type of anthologies are a trip back to music when music was music before technology and all the other things we associate with today's sounds and artists even existed. As a baby boomer from NY, we all grew up either being Tempts, Miracles, Delfonics, Stylistics, Moments, and you'd better be able to at least emulate some dance steps or sound "better than the shower" or you were wasting your time at all those sock-hops, high school dances, or good old fashioned house parties of the era. It is what we grew up on and what we remain loyal to today, even as we try to let the now generation know there WAS music BEFORE what they now listen to. That being said, this is a must have for anyone who has ever done the 'Temptation walk' or who would like to learn where so much music history and legacy comes from. Yes, there is a lot of lip synching (pre-digital and computer track era), but to see the original unit in their prime is priceless. There are always those who will complain about only having Otis Williams' take on things alone, but that is what happens when only one member is around to tell the story, and this DVD is not about dishing or rehashing the other (personal) stuff, but about celebrating the music and the magic. You can think back and laugh at the pointed toed shoes, the high water pants, and the fact we all wore them (proudly) too! To see the Hollywood Palace, Murray the 'K', the Temptations' Show and all those '60's venues brings one back to a time of youth, nostalgia, history, music and as I stated, magic. Now that I have this DVD I can jump in the "Way Back Time Machine" with Mr.Peabody and Sherman any time I want.!! 2007-07-15

Review of Temptation Performances 1965-1972 - Get Ready
This DVD is golden. My husband and I were teenagers during this era and I got this as a gift for him. We watched it together and really enjoyed it. It took us back to the days when we were in Detroit during the Motown days. The performances are fantastic and I am so glad I found it. Please keep tapes like this available for those of us who can remember. Thanks Amazon. 2007-07-04
