Whatever Possessed Bonamassa
To recently release a world class bassist in Eric Czar, and Kenny Kramme a great drummer, both whom have Defined Bonamassa for the last Five and a half years is Way beyond me..Mind boggling to say the least..But, more his loss than theirs...Without a doubt, one of the Most powerful live concerts ive seen in Many years...Recommmend this dvd one Big Time, but what a shame, that he has choosen a lesser band to continue on with. For that id have to give him One Star. 2006-07-18

Great band & songs - but what's up with the sound?
If you found this page then you aready know who Joe Bonamassa is. The band's performance is awesome. The camera work is great and keeps you in touch with all 3 members plus the audience. The set list is very enjoyable.
But what is up with the sound? This is a CONCERT DVD. We buy these for the sound as much as the visuals, and this one has sub-par sound. As someone else mentioned there is only one sound stream (stereo), despite a link in the menu that promises DTS surround sound. That in itself is no big deal. I'd take great PCM stereo over compressed surround sound any day, but this is NOT great PCM stereo. It's overdriven and severely clipped AC3. I've purchased other DVDs that exhibit similar problems (Allman Bros Beacon Theater comes to mind) and I just don't get it. Given the storage capacity of DVDs, it's simply inexcusable.
Bottom line: It's Joe, so buy the DVD. But like me, you may lament what should have been.

not the joe i know
i have enjoyed joes c.d's including his blues cd's so i was looking forward to this dvd to get an up close and personal look at this fine guitar player and i am a bit disappointed, while he is very tasteful and his leads are well thought out on his cd's this is just an hour of a guitarist showing off. yes he is very fast and he has a boatload of chops but this gets old and repetitive after about two songs. comparing the song blues deluxe from the cd to this dvd is night and day. on the cd he starts off tastefully and quiet and lets his guitar build momentum. on the dvd it is in your face from the get go. overall a major disappointment from a talented young superstar. 2006-04-07

Worth watching twice or more
I only discovered Joe Bonamassa about a month ago when a friend gave me a copy of Had to Cry Today. I then purchased this DVD and was blown away with Joe's skills. It's the kind of music video that you want your friends to have cause you know they will love it. 2006-03-28

Why Overshadow The Band With Editing?
I gotta tell ya, I bought the new DVD and I am somewhat dissapointed.. While the show is great, the editing is horrendous. Who is responsible for that? It jumps around worse than an MTV video..
Why does it have to be so busy? Shot from all angles except for upside down from what I could see. It is very difficult to watch for any length of time in my opinion.. Joe would be doing a grea solo and they are showing either the audience or Eric playing the bass or the drummer while Joe is blisterig the guitar. That happened on more than one occassion.. I thought it might just be me, but when I played the DVD for some friends they said the same thing without my commenting my thoughts first..
The first DVD was the same way, so I was hoping that the second one would be different, but I think it might be worse.. What a shame that a great show would be ruined in the editing room or by the camera crew.
Maybe I am too old(52) for the new style of video taping a concert. What is wrong with just showing the band with subtle camera angles and fade shots that don't detract from the band itself?
Check out the way Scorcese shot "The Last Waltz" or watch Tommy Castro's new DVD... now those shows are great to watch... Just show me the band, I don't need to see how fancy the editing equipment is or how creative the video editor can be.
