Greatest Game Ever Played
The Greatest Game Ever Played has a great cast, from the 20 year-old "Mr. Francis Ouimet" (Shia LeBeouf); to the English legend, Harry Vardon (Stephen Dillane). Other characters woven into the story create a minor masterpiece. Of course, the caddy, Eddie Lowery, just simply steals the show. This is a true story to touch the hearts of golfers and non-golfers alike! 2007-10-19

Great sports movie!
I was really inspired after watching this movie and I am not even a serious golfer. Very well directed and fantastic visual effects on the golf strokes. Overall, a terrific sports movie. 2007-10-15

Beautiful Film
This is a beautiful film - well made, well acted, and imaginative. Young Ouimet's character testifies to the integrity of the game viewed against the arrogance of the upper class and the hopelessness of his father. The golf swings are realistic and the drama superb. 2007-10-12

The original underdog sports story.
Just a fantastic feelgood story...and it is 100% true! Bill Paxton does a great job - accurately portraying the original storyline and preserving the history (the book is even better, but that is almost always the case).
I only take issue with one critical point that nobody but a golf nut will pick up on, and does not really change the story in any way: Bill Paxton takes great pride in the accuracy of this story (as seen in the bonus material), yet even though they were on location for some of the film, he showes the seventeenth hole at "The Country Club" as a dogleg right during the final round when Vardon hits it in the bunker. It is not. It is a dogleg left! Sorry, had to mention that because I just could not believe what I was seeing - even rewound it to double check. Great movie still, but then truth is always better than fiction.

Review of "The Greatest Game Ever"
I was surprised, but the attention to detail: costumes, period golf equipment, the history, and the music scores were superb. The story was a class struggle using the golf course was the battle line. Best movie I have seen this year. 2007-09-17
