A disappointment
Save your $. Season 1 is way better than Season 2. Buy Season 1 instead if you haven't done so.

Season 2 Wins Over Season 1
I loved Season 1 to pieces... until Season 2 began. Season 2 really gets to the core of who these characters on the screen really are. The story lines improve, and the writing is better. The actors are more comfortable with their characters, and the overall change is just so much easier to watch.

The true highlight of Season 2? They cut way back on Jenny's flashbacks throughout the season until they are FINALLY eliminated. I can't tell you how happy I am that they finally got the picture!

Confused
A lot of reviewers have given this boxed set 5 stars, which confuses me because it is undoubtedly a terrible, terrible show. And I'm not some mad hatin' reviewer - my colleagues at work are all of pretty much the same stance. The plot jumps are utterly preposterous, the storylines are for the most part dull, and the Jenny character is so awful that part of my pleasure in watching the show is derived from being presented with scenes which she's not in.

However - I have watched the entire season. Why? Because Katherine Moennig is simply magnetic. Without her, I feel the show would literally be trash - a random assortment of unpleasant items that nobody wants. But with her, it gels (albeit to a tenuous degree) and, for me at least, I simply enjoy watching her.

Watching the L-Word Season 2 feels like you're watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - that it was once a show that had a completely different plot and for whatever reason it's been pulled apart, completely re-edited and stuck back together in a vaguely coherent fashion. Moennig deserves much, much better than this....

Interesting to watch
Is this show interesting to watch? For sure. Is it entertaining? Yes. Is the season too short? Absolutely. I was only disappointed that there weren't more episodes for this 2nd season. I think 20 episodes would be more appropriate. However, this shows how addicting this show can be to watch. It is definitely on the same high entertainment level as:

Niptuck
Sex in the City

I think the producers would make more money on this show if they filmed more episodes. Believe me people would buy and watch more episodes of this per season.

The characters were interesting to watch. The whole thing with the new film maker (One of Jenny's roommates) was a good story plot.

I think Jenny comes off like a literary snob. Then again I think her bad childhood might have something to do with this according to the story.

Bette should get less stressed and try to be more sensitive to Tina's needs. I was also surprised at Tina's sexual escapades in season 2. Oh well, this is why The L Word continues to be entertaining. L-word is definitely a must-see.
