Great Movie!
I first saw the film in 1982 shortly after it won for best picture. I did not even know what the film was about. However, since that first viewing Chariots of Fire has always been a special movie to me. The honesty of the film is invigorating, and compelling. What do I mean by that? It does not apologize for the forthright faith of the Scotsman, or the almost self destructive drive of the Jew. The triumph of this film was it took these two men, presented them not only as athletes, but instilled in them human spirit and drive, then sat back and allowed the audience to draw their own conclusion as to who they were. The only issue I had with the DVD, and the reason I rated it only 4 stars was the fact the special feature disk was nothing more than a self congratulatory documentary and interview of the cast and crew. I was hoping for more background on the history of the time, and the people of the film, to bad. The movie itself is one of the best ever made, more than enough reason to buy this DVD.

Chariots of Fire
I saw this film when it first came out in the theaters years ago. The acting is really excellent as is the screenplay. You really become involved with the characters because the acting is so good. It holds your attention and has you on the edge of your seat throughout. One of the best films ever made definetely.

Competition
Competition in sporting events was to conduct themselves as gentlemen whether winning or loosing as an amature. The movie compares the reason why two men ran to greatness. One ran for the glory and excellence of God and the other ran to win for themself. Eric Liddell was the ferstest of rivels with friend Herold Abahams. This is a must see for any family that has any competitive athletes.
