Excellent movie
This is a great movie and well deserves the cult status that it has. Great to watch on a stormy night with a group of open minded people, and people who have experienced angst.

The dvd is in great condition and were delivered quickly. Thanks for the great service.

Take a bunch of puzzle pieces from random puzzles, add a great soundtrack...
and you've got Donnie Darko in a nutshell. There is a reason why this DVD is now available for five dollars at WalMart, because the movie was a phase. Nothing in it really adds up, and it's stab at existentialism is pathetic.
It's an okay movie. It seems like most people either 'love it or hate it'...

Donnie Darko Director's Cut
An easy version of the movie well worth watching. This version cuts the gore that is really meaningless. The directors cut is the one to get and enjoy. The music is wonderful as well. Stays with you. Movie insights to read the book. Well acted by all. A look at life from a tender aspect, this topsy turvy movie is reality meeting reality head on. Jake Gyllenhaal's dark personality shows through again.

A dark classic
I've seen this film 4 times, so I admit I really like it. Strangely enough, I sat down to watch it with my fiancé and my mother for the first time in years, on the exact same day that the filming for the sequel started, the 18th of May 2008. The film tells the story of how a troubled young boy, Donnie Darko, found out his destiny. It is actually quite an intelligent film, and a good deal of it is about physics. I can recognize something of myself in the young boy, played excellently by Jake Gyllenhaal, with his intellect and knowledge that he is different, amongst the dumb masses.

Donnie wakes up in the middle of the night to a message from Frank, the giant rabbit man, that in 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds the world will end. After this, nothing is the same. The film is extremely "80's", even though made in 2001, but it sure is skilfully made. The Darko-family is very kind and amusing people, and even though they can't quite get through to their troubled son, they still love him dearly. I watched this film the day after a late night out on town, so that is something I can't recommend, if you become as depressed as I tend to become, while hung-over.

So, even though I could have wished for a Gentile actor to play Darko, it truly is an amazing film, that is very hard to characterize. A lot of people won't like it at all, since it is rather advanced and deals in sensitive subjects such as mental illness and so on. The film has got so many amazing characters, and such a magnificent plot, that I cannot recommend it highly enough. Make sure you get the "Director's cut", though, so you don't miss out on all the great music in the film and some rather necessary scenes that are cut out in the other versions.

5 stars, without a doubt.

Its a "blink"er
This is one of those /headtilt movies. I think the concept of it was cool, acting was amazing, but the concept did throw me for a loopty loop. I just couldn't put it all together, I think if I watch it again then maybe I'll understand a bit better. But even if you don't get the deep down meaning behind it all, its still very well acted and a mindpuzzle.(didn't want to add profanity there ^.^) So, I say watch it no matter what you hear, cuz there are a lot of different opinions on it. Jake does a marvolous job and he deserves kudos.
