I have the book so I wanted the CD.
It helps to tighten your body, with very small movement, but it really works, but if you are heavy, it does not burn fat, it just tones.

Gentle, effective workout
Before I had two children I worked out at the gym five days a week and did Pilates three days a week. I was very fit. However, I don't have that sort of time to devote to my figure anymore. Plus, my second daughter was large and after three months of physical therapy, my back still gives me problems. Other than ballet, this is the only workout I have found that does not put strain on my back. Even my beloved Pilates causes pain.
The workout is easy to follow and, as evidenced by the jelly legs after each hour, is effective. It doesn't require strange contortions like T-Tapp. It doesn't require jerking, ridiculous footwork like some cardio workout videos and it doesn't produce the bulkiness that comes from lifting heavy weights.
After only three hours I was approached by two different people that asked me what I had been doing. I'm not large, so my results weren't as evident as some, but my rear- which has always been a problem spot for me- is finally cute. I've done fourteen hours and I haven't seen much difference in my waist or hips, but I am happy with the results I have seen. I'm going to buy the advanced Callanetics DVD and see if that will offer better results with my "mommy" midsection.
A bonus is that I have seen huge improvements in my flexibility which has improved my performance in my ballet classes

I love Callanetics, I think Callan has come up with an amazing toning program here and I have definitely seen a difference in myself. It doesn't have "open and close" though, that I liked from the book, but other than that I'm completely thrilled with it. I've noticed a huge difference in my legs and "behind" and a not as huge but still good difference in my arms after 10 workouts. My stomach has not started pulling in yet but I can definitely feel the toned muscles under the... extra. :) I think that I haven't been moving enough in those positions, so I'm working on that, plus I need to actually lose some of the fat then everything will be more noticeable! :) I would definitely recommend any of Callan's videos or books to anyone of any level of fitness or abilities; the exercises are extremely simple and gentle, but intense! I do enjoy Callan herself, which is a huge plus, since some instructors just really get on your nerves... 2008-11-23




Best workout ever
Calanetics is the best workout I have ever come across. I discovered it 8 years ago and although I was in a major car accident with damage to my back, this workout made me strong from the inside out. I lost this disk and had to purchase it again. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to stay strong (becoming thinner is just a by-product of this excersice) who is tired of being tired and who places strength above appearance. Each 30 minute workout gives energy, flexibility without sweat. It sounds unbeliveable but one has to give it a go to find what I have. 2008-11-19
