Mia's grandma teaches Mia how to become a princess and a queen. The queen invited Lord Deveral and his nephew, Nicholas to stay at the queen's palace. Mia's problem is that she has to get married. She has to have an arranged marriage and get married to Andrew Jacjabe but she has feelings for Nicholas.

I was looking forward to seeing this movie since I am such a big fan of all the books. After I saw it, I was disappointed, though. It is NOTHING like the book. I thought it cute, but very disapointing.

While the formula worked rather well in the original, this tired and padded sequel fails to conjure up any real magical moments. The movie is way too long with scenes that are merely meant to titillate its target audience of pre-teens, and to sell more soundtrack albums. But the delightful Anne Hathaway (who shows her acting mettle in more recent films like BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and HAVOC) is still a fetching princess queen-to-be, and her presence alone gives the movie a much needed boost. The writers saddled her with a completely unlikeable love match (a hunky but shallow Chris Pine), and by the time the movie reaches its emancipative climax, one has pretty much tired of the movie. Julie Andrews is remarkable as always as the queen, and Hector Elizondo shines in his role as her secret admirer. Their classy presence likewise elevates the film. But John Rhys Davies as the conspiratory viscount and even Heather Matarazzo are merely annoying set pieces meant to advance the plot, and they don't do it that well either. Now that Princess Mia is Queen Mia, one can only hope we don't have THE QUEEN DIARIES, as this sequel does little to promote the royal cause.

When I first watched this movie I didn't like as much as the first. Just recently I watched it again and I love it. Great sequel to the first. Now we need a third.

I am a huge fan of princesses and fairy tales. I saw princess diaries 1 and 2 and loved them both. If you love fairy tales and princesses you will love this movie.
