The Worst Witch (The Movie)

This movie for me was the start of the HP series. I saw this film way back when I was young and I loved it. The film has Tim Curry as the grand wizard, With the head of the Facts of life house as the owner of the school who also dups as her evil twin sister(I cant remember her name now but she still can sing) and a lovely cast of young girls. Its is The story of a young girl witch (Mildred) in training who just cant seem to catch a break as everyone around her seems determined to make her fail.

Today this movie seems very dated with its 70s music and effects but the story is still very much enjoyable. Everything from the flying lessons on the broom (keeping her cat in a bag), to a potions class that goes horribly wrong just points to a great little movie that is just wonderful to revisit after so many years.

I HAD SEEN THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS A CHILD YEARS AGO. WHEN I SAW THAT IT WAS NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD, I BOUGHT NOT ONLY A COPY FOR ME BUT FOR MY SISTER AS WELL. VERY CUTE HALLOWEEN MOVIE. MY CHILDREN JUST LOVED IT!! THIS MOVIE ALWAYS MADE ME AND MY SISTER WANT TO BE A WITCH IN THIS WITCH SCHOOL. IT'S ABOUT A YOUNG GIRL WHO DESPERATELY TRIES TO BE A GOOD WITCH BUT JUST CAN'T GET IT RIGHT. I STILL WATCH IT EVERY HALLOWEEN!!!

This is probably the worst DVD I've ever seen. I realize it's a made-for-TV movie, but so was Disney's Tower of Terror, and that DVD is crystal clear, with excellent sound. This one is terrible--the sound fades in and out, the picture is grainy, it's pretty much impossible to watch. I have yet to finish it, because the quality is so bad. Maybe I just got a bum DVD, but it looks like the original film quality is pretty bad, so I didn't try to exchange it.

I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE OTHER REVIEWS OF THIS MOVIE. I, AS WELL, REMEMBER THIS MOVIE FROM MY CHILDHOOD. I HAVE PROBABLY SEEN IT A MILLION TIMES AND IT JUST GETS BETTER EVERYTIME!

Guilty pleasure from my preteen HBO days...

Teh songs are fun and Tim Curry is always a treat...

the effects are sub sub par, but you gotta love it!
