Makes me wish I was a teenager then.
Fast Times at Ridgemont High, is one of the greats in Teen Movie history. It shows you examples of life as a teen in the 1980s, showing pop culture references, fashions, slang, fads, music, etc of that era. Seeing all that really made me want to be part of that, but since the movie was released in 1982, and I was born in 1986, I was unfortunately a generation too late, but none the less it doesn't change my opinion that this movie absolutely rocks! In this movie you'll see some very young famous faces like, Sean Penn in his first big role as Jeff Spicoli who is stoned most of the time, and all he wants to do in life is surf, Jennifer Jason Leigh as Stacy Hamilton, the innocent freshman who's innocence gets tarnished, Phoebe Cates as Linda Barrett, the experienced senior who is also Stacy's best friend and guide. Judge Reinhold as Brad Hamilton, who is Stacy's older brother and is having a crappy senior year. There is also Mike Damone (Robert Romanus)who tries to act like he's Mr. cool, but really isn't, and has his own little business scalping tickets, and his friend Mark Ratner (Brian Backer) who 's nerdy, wimpy, and has a crush on Stacy. The movie also focuses on these teens personal, and academic lives, and cover many topics like Sex, Dating, Teen Pregnancy, Abortion, Smoking Pot, Asking out your crush, Getting fired from your job, getting dumped, getting the "dreaded teacher", trying to pass the "dreaded teacher's" class, School dance, Pep Rally, Homecoming Game, Final Exams, etc. The DVD has really cool interactive menus with cool Special Features, no wonder it's the totally awesome edition!

An interesting film
One of my favorite films of all time. I love this film. It came out the same year I made my arrival into this world (1982). This film really made me realize how precious life is, and how your best times are in high school. I can honestly say that a film like this is a classic. I had the biggest crush on Damone, even though he was a dog. My favorite character in the film was Spicoli!!!!

Classic
What can you say, this is a classic film. A must see for all guys. If for no other reason, you have to see the famous Phoebe Cates scene.

Incredible Clarity
I literally just finished watching the HD DVD on my external XBOX 360 HD DVD drive. Before watching the movie, I was skeptical that a movie filmed in 1982 could actually come anywhere near the clarity of HD. Much to my surprise, the clarity and definition was just amazing. You'll notice details in the film that you hadn't seen before. You can actually see tiny detals on everyones' shirts, sweaters, hair, etc. I just turned the disc over and am watching the plain DVD version; it isn't nearly as clear as the HD DVD version.

The only minor complaint that I have about the disc is that the "Extras" feature (i.e. the interviews of the actors talking about the film) are on the DVD side. However, you can fortunately listen to the director & producer's commentary on the HD DVD side. It's definitely worth listening to because their commentary offers interesting insight for each scene.

I highly recommend this classic! When you see it in HD, it's like seeing it for the first time!
