WHAT???????
This movie definitely had the potential to be gteat, the action scenes are pretty good. But the love story in this movie seems like even the actors were dozing off during there own scenes.

The final fight did't work for me either, and the very last scene I thought was pretty unnecessary. Did anyone really remember Joey Wong was in this movie by the time that the end came.

The commentary on the DVD was one of the better ones that I have heard from ric meyers.

Don't analyze, just watch
Do not try to apply western thinking to Asian movies! They are not done with the same intent or even at times for the same purpose. These movies go deep into culture and you have to go with it to enjoy what goes on. This movie has good action and fantastic plot lines! I searched until I found it. I like wire fu and prefer it to "real" kung fu movies because I like to escape. Butterfly and Sword will take you places you haven't likely been before.

interesting movie
the plot is a bit hard to follow in places. otherwise a typical over-the-top kung fu movie. The ending theme song is wonderful though. If Michelle ever gives up acting she still has a career as a singer.

Good fighting scenes. Love story with twists.
The fighing scenes are fast, furious and violent. For example, in one scene, a fighter pushed his sword and his whole body completely through the chest of his oppenent.
The love story has some twists. What looked like the love between a sister and her younger brother turned out to be more than that.

Excellent! Among the best of Yeoh!
Excellent in action, acting, direction, screenplay... I can't remember how many times I have watched it.
