Flight of the Navigator

I just loved this movie and so I bought it for my son.
He watches it over and over. Cute & funny.

This movie really brings me back to my childhood, it used to play on Disney all the time. It's about a kid who finds himself in a space ship piloted by a supe-cute robot (voiced by the fabulous Paul Reubens - aka Pee Wee Herman). This is a great family movie- appropriate and fun for kids and still enjoyable to adults. It's timeless. My father and I watched it together when I was growing up and now that it's out on DVD, I bought it for him so that he can enjoy it with my new baby brothers.
Definately pick this one up!

We watched this for the first time the other day. I had seen reviews in the past and had the impression that this was not a happy story (and certainly, the beginning is difficult, but with a little parental presence and reassurance this is something even a 6-year-old can handle easily).

Yes, the beginning is sad, but it is also well-done; the boy is convincingly vulnerable, though the medical-research side (especially once he ends up in the hands of NASA) is somewhat far-fetched.

The last part of the move is a truly enjoyable romp that quickly overrode all the fear of the first half. The spaceship is well done, and the interactions between the boy and the ship's computer (voiced by Paul Reubens, who sounds quite Pee-Wee-esque toward the end) are wonderful.

My six-year-old says this is "favorite movie ever."

I am so happy that this Disney film was finally converted to DVD format. Both my son and daughter are extras in the very beginning of this movie. They filmed for three days and after all the editing and cutting was done they appear for approximately "30 seconds." It still is a sweet 30 seconds to me. I had to have a copy for each of us so I bought 3 copies. By the way, it is a very cute story and Sarah Jessica Parker has come a long way since this was filmed.

Flight of the navigator is my childhood favorite movie, and it contains subtitles (eng/esp) convenient for me.
