Freaks and Geeks - The Complete Series

I had somehow never seen this show before and netflixed it. I watched one episode and promptly bought the series on AMAZON because I couldn't imagine not watching the rest of it immediately. I think I even went total dork and got the next day shipping. I love it. I have watched it all the way through at least 12 times since then and it has become a requirement of being my friend to watch it with me. Everyone I have introduced it to loves it also. It's incomparable, with the hilarious Judd Apatow comedic genius, an intensely wonderful soundtrack (the scene from the episode where Nick tells Lindsay there's a song describing exactly how he feels about her and then plays Lady by Styxx cracks me up every time! I fall into hysterical peals of laughter no matter how many times I watch it), and very real relatable characters. I myself was a smart kid who decided smoking pot and listening to 70's rock was way cooler than school, of course, I did it in the early nineties as opposed to 1980, but I felt like I understood it just as well as if I'd jumped into Kim's sweet Gremlin and headed off to tour with the Dead myself. Buy this set, you will not regret it...well, unless you're a douche.

This is the funniest show ever!! But I'm sad that there is only one season...

If you don't like this show there is something truly wrong with you. Why couldn't there have been a seasons 2 and 3 and 4, etc ...

I grew up in the public school system of the 1980s and really identified with this emotional and humorous series created by Paul Feig. All characters are perfectly cast and are portrayed dealing with the same confusing and stressful situations that come with the teenage experience that many of us can identify with in some capacity. The period music of the series is a pivotal connecting point with the 80s and these characters, spanning from RUSH to Van Halen to Billy Joel to Alice Cooper to the Who and more. Cameo performances are also a joy, including Joel Hodgson and Trace Beaulieu from MST3K fame and Jason Schwartzmann to name a few. A great trip back to the often scary and humorous public high school teenage experience of the 80s. Paul Feig has also written two books on this subject as well, which I found to be as rewarding as this series. These characters really stayed with me.

This is an amazing series, one of the best on television in years. Its really incredible. It nails the subject matter at every turn, and I can't stop watching it.
